Buttle Lake Boat Launch

The first stop in Strathcona Park! This boat launch is very under-rated and never too busy for beach seekers. I have turned into the parking lot before and been discouraged but the people launching boats dont typically stick around to enjoy the space. There is an island you can walk to when the water is low and anther sandy spit past that. Great for kids and pets as there isnt anywhere to get lost, you can let them exlopre and kick your feet up. Beautiful views of Buttle Lake and great access for kayak launching.

Getting There

Head out of Gold River and go East on Highway 28 towards Campbell River. You will come to the Buttle Lake Bridge and instead of turning left towards Campbell River turn RIGHT towards the mine. The Buttle Lake Boat Launch is approximately 1km down the road on your righthand side and is the 2nd brown BC Parks sign you'll see.  Park in the boat launch area and continue to the beach. The island pictured is to your right and the left has left over pilings and a more rocky beach.
