Elk River Trailhead

Access to the Elk River Valley and the popular "Landslide Lake" hike. Typically an overnighter this 28km there and back hike has views of everything. Old growth, forest streams, still bogs, stunning mountianscapes and ice bergs! First campsite around 8km, second campsite is at 11km and Landslide Lake is 3km past that. If you're feeling adventurous you can take the treacherous but passable 2km trail along the lake to access Berg Lake, the start of the Elk River. Dog friendly this hike sees ALOT of people. GPS and maps are recommended; always let someone know where you are headed before you get into nature!

Getting There

Head out of Gold River and go east on Highway 28 towards Campbell River. You will pass the Strathcona Park sign on your right and then the Crest Mountain Trailhead eventually on your left. The road will leave the lake and straighten out, you'll see the entrance to the parking lot on your right about 200m past. Ideally plan this hike in the shoulder seasons to avoid busy trails!
